Meet CadenceAI. Our story starts with our founder, Thanh Van. With over ten years of experience in clinical research and his current role as an Associate Director in Clinical Operations, Thanh knows the challenges of running clinical trials.

 Inspired by the power of AI, Thanh started CadenceAI in 2023. But the idea was born much earlier. Thanh and a team of talented professionals decided to change how clinical trials are managed.

 Thanh talked to essential people in the industry—VPs, Directors, and Managers. They shared their daily struggles and challenges. This valuable information shaped CadenceAI.

We built CadenceAI with these challenges in mind. We wanted to create something that helps. Our platform makes operations smoother, increases efficiency, and gets results.

Founding Team

Thanh (Tomas) Van, Advisor

With over a decade of experience as a clinical operations leader in clinical research, I have effectively overseen first-in-human phase I studies and global phase II/III studies across various indications. I also work with regulatory authorities from different countries, including the FDA, EMA, and MoH, consistently resulting in successful outcomes.

Cadence Chen, Founding Engineer

A highly accomplished founding engineer with a diverse background in software development, having gained valuable experience at Amazon Web Services (AWS), Ada Code Academy, Major League Hacking, Techtonica, and San Francisco Living Wage Coalition. Cadence has demonstrated exceptional skills in full-stack development, Python, Ruby, Flask, and React, among others, and has contributed to the creation of impactful projects, ranging from travel applications to eCommerce websites, while consistently delivering clean, readable, and efficient code.

Siyuan Tang, Data Scientist

Siyuan Teng is a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer with a robust background in developing advanced AI solutions. With extensive experience in retrieval-augmented generation, document analysis, and information extraction, Siyuan has successfully led projects that enhanced data extraction accuracy and optimized query performance. His expertise spans across designing recommendation engines, orchestrating NLP workflows, and deploying AI virtual assistants on cloud platforms. Siyuan holds a Master's degree in Operations Research from UC Berkeley and a Bachelor's degree in Statistics from the University of Illinois. His technical proficiencies include Python, SQL, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and various machine learning frameworks. With a proven track record of driving innovation and efficiency, Siyuan is a valuable addition to our founding team, bringing deep technical insights and a passion for cutting-edge AI advancements.     

Kuangyi Mi, Data Scientist

Kuangyi is a data professional specializing in end-to-end machine learning applications with a strong ability to tie machine learning and data science solutions to delivering business value. His technical expertise spans developing NLP modules to enhance chatbot capabilities, building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, designing and implementing complex recommendation engines, and creating demand forecasting models. He also has extensive experience in creating and managing database logic from scratch, automating data processes, and performing comprehensive data analysis. He holds a Master’s degree in Operations Research from UC Berkeley and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UC Santa Barbara, providing him with a solid background in machine learning, mathematical optimization, SQL, and Python usage.

Danilo Britto, Volunteering Technical Advisor

As a Senior Software Engineer, I leverage my extensive cloud computing skills and experience to design, build, and deploy scalable and secure web applications for various clients. I have over eight years of experience in full stack software engineering, working with the latest technologies and frameworks for companies located in the US, UK, Israel, and Latin America. I am passionate about creating user-friendly and responsive web projects. I am also a certified Cloud Native Application Architect, Cloud Developer, and Cloud DevOps Engineer, with proficiency in serverless computing and cloud infrastructure. Besides developing web applications, I also contribute to open source projects and work as a Community Lead in Meta Developer Circle: Lima, where I share my knowledge and insights with other developers and learners..
